Ambassador of the European Union to Albania, Luigi Soreca posted on Twitter, the speech of the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen who said: "The opening of accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia was a historic decision."

According to Von der Leyen, the countries of the Western Balkans are part of Europe and not a stop on the Silk Road. Meanwhile, Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi also agreed with the statement of President of the European Commission. 

"Opening of accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia was a historical decision. The future of the region lies in the EU. We share the same history, the same destiny, Western Balkans are part of Europe not a stopover on Silk Road," said Ursula Von der Leyen.
