500 kg of Cannabis at Border with Montenegro, Truck Itinerary Revealed
Some new details have emerged about the truck seized with drugs by the Montenegrin authorities at the Hani i Hotit customs. Montenegrin police have learned that they have arrested the citizen Pëllumb Çupi, 37 years old, who is the driver of the truck. Meanwhile, some new details have been learned about the route and the load that this truck had.
Before Saturday last week, it is learned that the truck, which belongs to a transport company, was rented by a farmer of medicinal plants from Elbasan. The truck from Tirana went to Elbasan where it was loaded with medicinal plants and then left for Montenegro and the final destination was Germany. However, during the scanning inspection at the Hani i Hotit customs, the Montenegrin authorities found in addition to the load of medicinal plants, a quantity of 500 kilograms of cannabis sativa. The information has been made official by the Montenegrin police for the Albanian police. Meanwhile, the arrested driver, Pëllumb Çupi, stated that he had no knowledge about the drugs in the truck and that he was simply in the role of the driver to transport a load of medicinal plants to Germany.
The local police of Shkodra have also interrogated the owner of medicinal plants in Elbasan, who also denied having anything to do with the drugs found in the truck. The owner has stated that he simply loaded the medicinal plants in the truck and that he has no knowledge of what happened next or how the amount of 500 kilograms of drugs was inserted inside the truck. Meanwhile, the local police of Shkodra is learned that they have seized the security cameras in the place where the truck was loaded with medicinal plants in Elbasan, while the investigations continue to find the perpetrators of this load of 500 kilograms of cannabis destined for Germany. This is not the first time that trucks with different products are loaded in Albania and seized at Montenegrin customs with significant quantities of narcotics. At the moment the passage of large quantities of drugs through truck transport remains a favorite for traffickers.
