Activists of the National Theater Defense Alliance continued the third day of the protest.

They have protested peacefully and demand the resignation of the head of the State Police Ardi Veliu. Upon the demolition of the Theater (May 17, 2020), the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater has warned that it will not stop the protests, this time they will protest for the human rights. 

The first protest took place on Sunday in the square in front of the Ministry of Interior, which started at 18:00 and ended around 19:30 with a joint statement by the main protagonists.

Director Robert Budina said that they want the General Director of the State Police, Ardi Veliu, to leave, saying that under his leadership, Albania has seen the darkest period.

Ergys Mertiri, one of the activists of the Alliance for Theater who was arrested a few days ago, testified that they were blackmailed and provoked by the staff.

"It is unprecedented violence against people who are activists. We encountered police blackmail at the police station by a police inspector who I do not remember mentioning our name. A way to provoke us and make us feel scared," said Mertiri.
