AKBN Approves 29 Solar, Wind Projects

Some 29 companies have received preliminary or final approval for the construction of solar and wind power plants aimed at increasing the power generation capacity in the country. Representatives of the National Agency of Natural Resources (AKBN) provided details on the status of these approvals, as they indicate that the certification of 12 photovoltaic plants is expected by the end of the year.

In parallel, three plants of 50 MW as well as two others with installed capacity of 2 and 5.1 MW have received preliminary approval.

Construction of renewable resources has advanced also in terms of wind farms, where the first five plants have started to be built, while seven others have received prior approval.

The data were released during the workshop "Promotion of European measures for sustainable renewable energy", funded by the European Union, which focused on the importance of renewable energy, in order to reduce carbon emissions in the air and improve energy efficiency in the public and private sector between Italy, Albania and Montenegro.

The workshop was organized by the Center for Regional Cooperation and Development -RCDC Albania in the framework of the project DE-RESS - Dissemination of European measures for Renewable Energy Shared and Sustainable: analysis of a practical case, funded by the Interreg IPA Italy-Albania Cross-Border Program -Black Mountain.

The overall objective of the project is to promote the development of Energy Communities, capable of generating a portion of the energy they consume (self-consumption).

The workshop was accompanied by numerous discussions by those present in the hall. At the end, the participants were awarded certificates. The project envisages a second workshop, to be held in Puglia on September 23, 2021.
