Albania, Kosovo Sign Agreement on Joint Patrols
On an official visit to Albania, the General Director of the Kosovo Police, Samedin Mehmeti, accompanied by his delegation, was received in a meeting by the Albanian counterpart, Ardi Veliu. Both sides have assessed the level of relations between the two police forces, agreeing that cooperation mainly in the field of road safety and information exchange should be extended to all areas, eliminating any bureaucracy or obstacles.
“Gradually we are returning to the reality where we should contribute not only to strengthening the order and security in both countries, but also to positively influence the promotion and support of development that we are giving to tourism in our country. In this case is the signing, the continuation of the tradition of several years of signing a memorandum or joint agreement regarding the arrival of Kosovo Police police patrols in support of the Albanian Police structures, and more specifically those of the Traffic Police,†said State Police chief Ardi Veliu.
The Kosovar side stressed the importance of joint security measures for citizens coming on vacation to Albania, given the heavy traffic load and the safety and protection of their lives.
The two sides signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for joint patrols of the Albanian and Kosovo Traffic Police.
