Albania Marks Lowest COVID-19 Infections, Deaths in Months

Positive development has been noted this Monday when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic in Albania, as the country logged very low numbers. According to the health authorities, 69 cases were seen in the last 24 hours, as the medics performed only 994 tests on citizens suspected as infected.

Problematic continues to remain Tirana area with 22 new cases, followed by Berat and Fier, with respectively 7 and 6 infected. The lowest figures were seen in Shkodra, Kukës, Lezha, Gramsh, Lushnje, Përmet, Delvina, Vau Dejës and Dibra, the Health Ministry confirmed.

Meanwhile, only one deceased due to the disease has been registered in Albania. The victim was a 69 year-old citizen from Tirana, the Health department of the Albanian government added.

Fortunately, 737 citizens have been cured in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of recoveries to 106,465 since the beginning of the epidemic.

At the time being, 147 patients are being treated in COVID hospitals in Tirana and three regional hospitals, 12 in intensive therapy, of which 4 patients are put on respiratory devices.

Ministry of Health and Social Protection addresses the citizens not to neglect any signs of the disease and to contact for any doubt with the family doctor to perform the testing as well as for follow-up and outpatient treatment at home. Call the National Emergency number 127 for any emergency or hospital referral, the Ministry urged.
