Albania’s Daily COVID-19 Infections Drop Lightly amid High Deaths

Pandemic situation in Albania seems to have become bittersweet in the last 24 hours, as the healthcare specialists have discovered 780 fresh cases, namely 67 cases less than the day before. Virologists of Albania have found the 780 virus-contaminated as 3171 tests were performed throughout the state and public health facilities of the country, the Health Ministry informed Friday.

Although the number of daily infections seems to have declined the number of coronavirus victims remains dangerously high. Adding the 21 newly-deceased, the death toll due to SARS-CoV-2 in Albania has been brought to 1.897 and unfortunately does not seem to slow down, despite the measures imposed by the government to prevent the further spread of the virus.

However, in the premises of Covid hospitals 6 citizens from Tirana, 2 citizens in Fier, 2 citizens from Shkodra, 2 citizens from Lushnja, 1 citizen in Kuçova, 1 citizen from Kavaja, 1 citizen from Cerrik, 1 citizen from Peqini, 1 citizen from Pogradec, 1 citizen from Elbasan, 1 citizen from Kurbin, 1 citizen from Bulqiza, 1 citizen from Korça, aged 44-90.

Good news is the fact that 757 citizens have been cured in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of recoveries to 73,610 since the beginning of the epidemic. Moreover, 440 anti-Covid vaccinations were performed today and 18,247 jabs have been injected since the beginning of vaccination process.

Meanwhile, the number of hospitalized coronavirus-affected patients has increased drastically. Currently, 638 patients are being treated in COVID hospitals in Tirana and three regional hospitals, 37 in intensive therapy, of which 9 patients are intubated, compared to a day ago, when 609 patients were being treated currently in the COVID hospitals in Tirana and three regional hospitals, 43 were in intensive therapy, of which 10 patients on respiratory devices.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection urges citizens not to lower their vigilance and continue to apply antiCOVID rules by putting on protective masks in any environment outside the home; avoiding gatherings and maintaining physical distancing, also taking care of personal hygiene in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
