Albanian Civil Emergencies on Standby after Florina Earthquake
Albanian Ministry of Defense has reacted regarding the earthquake that shook Greece on the evening of January 9, where the tremors were also felt in Albania.
The Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi informs that the Civil Emergencies are in readiness to identify if there is damage or injured people. Thankfully no damage has been reported so far.
"The tremors that were felt in our country had their epicenter on the border between North Macedonia and Greece, according to preliminary data from IGJEUM, about 40 km northeast of Bilisht with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale. The intensity of the earthquake is estimated at 6 points according to the MSK-64 scale.
No damage has been reported so far, however, all civil emergency structures are in full readiness to identify and then react in any situation," said in the announcement of the Ministry of Defense.
The quake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale with its epicenter in Florina, Greece. The tremors were felt in North Macedonia, Albania but also in Kosovo.
