The Senate Foreign Relations Committee welcomed the Albanian government’s decision to give temporary safe haven to those fleeing the Taliban onslaught in Afghanistan. 

"The people of Albania are once again showing the world what “BESA” means. You have our respect and thanks," it reacted.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced earlier that Albania would accept Afghan refugees who have the U.S. as their final destination and face the threat of violence from the Taliban as the U.S. withdraws from Afghanistan.
