Balla Criticizes Opposition Protest as Clashes Erupt in Tirana

The head of the parliamentary group of Albania’s ruling Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, commented on the start of the fourth nationwide protest called by the opposition in front of the prime minister’s office.

In a post on social media, Balla wrote: “Here is the square, here is the battleground, and here is the criminal group hiding under umbrellas (even though it’s not raining), ready for the Molotov cocktails of a senile old man.”

His reaction came as supporters of the opposition Democratic Party gathered outside the government building, with protesters throwing Molotov cocktails and fireworks toward the prime minister’s office during the demonstration.
