Taulant Balla was sworn in this Saturday as Minister of the Interior before the president of the republic, Bajram Begaj. 

The swearing-in ceremony started at 11:00. Balla was appointed Minister of the Interior a few days ago, after the dismissal of Bledi Çuçi. 

The changes in the leadership dome of this department came after two consecutive events in Krujë, specifically the massacre in Larushke and the violence of members of the Rraja family in Krujë. 

Taulant Balla is considered one of the strongest representatives of the majority in the Parliament. He started his political career in 2004, where he served as an advisor to the prime minister of that time, Fatos Nano. He was first elected MP of Librazhdi in 2005, at the age of 28, and since then he has not been absent from the Parliament of Albania. After the 2017 elections, Taulant Balla was appointed chairman of the socialist parliamentary group. 

At the same time, he was appointed Chairman of the Delegation of the Parliament of Albania to the European Parliament and Vice Chairman of the National Council of European Integration. After the resignation of Gramoz Ruçi, Balla was elected General Secretary of the Socialist Party, a post he held until after the 2021 elections, where he was replaced by Damian Gjiknuri. 

Balla is the MP of the Elbasan District and political leader for the Socialist Party in the Fier District. Earlier, he led the district of Elbasan, where he got the best electoral result in the elections of 2017 and 2021, both for the socialists, but also as a MP he was the most voted nationally.
