C. Court Vacancies, Four Candidates Banned

The Judicial Appointments Council has taken the decision to ban the candidacy of four applicants for vacancies in the Constitutional Court.

It is reported that lawyer Sergjia Mazreku, lawyer Sinan Tafaj, former President's advisor Shaqir Hasanaj and Judge Zhaklina Peto have been barred from running.

The decision was taken at this Tuesday’s meeting as the four applicants can no longer continue the race.

Meanwhile, the verification procedure continues for two other applicants, Sonila Bejtja and Eugen Papandile.

The applicants were competing for a seat in the Constitutional Court, a vacancy that was announced by President, Ilir Meta on November 22, 2019 after the dismissal of Judge Besnik Muci due to Vetting process. Since then this position has remained vacant.
