Creta Earthquake: First Victim Recorded, 9 Injured

The powerful 6.0 earthquake that hit Creta of Greece this Monday morning has caused one victim and 9 people injured. 

Greek media report that the victim was trapped in the church of Profitis Ilias in Arkalochori along with two other people who managed to escape. Greek media have published images from the moment of the powerful oscillation when a vehicle shakes from the place for a few seconds. 

It is learned that a part of the church collapsed, taking down three people. A citizen in Patsideros was locked for several minutes in his apartment as he could not open the door as a result of the earthquake damage. 

9 people were sent to hospitals who suffered scratches and fractures. From the reports so far there are no other injured persons. Significant damage to buildings has been reported in the villages of Roussochoria, Archontiko and Patsideros. While some people who were stuck in a pharmacy managed to get out after some minutes.
