Criminal Schemes within Pension System to Be Punished; Premier

Prime Minister Edi Rama warned that very soon a criminal scheme of structures within the pension system will be made public.

During a meeting held this Friday with representatives of commercial banks, Rama also stressed the importance of digitalization in this sector.

"We are in an embarrassing situation with pensions, with giving and receiving them, while technology gives us the opportunity to overcome it, we are working to overcome it. Today we have dramatic problems with giving and receiving pensions.

Our anti-corruption structure is investigating several cases and very soon we will have results to bring to justice structures within the pension system or the post office that operate criminally. Jumping from this level to a level of transparency and speed is possible only through technology. We will see it and we will do it all together now according to the sectors", Rama emphasized, underlining as essential the role of the second level banks in this transformation process and for the pensions.

"We need to move forward with the fiscal amnesty that has the support of the vast majority of Albanians, which must be structured with great professionalism in every detail to guarantee the whole balance between the great need for this process in a country where there has never been a moment of formalization of money and the need for amnesty not to be used as a path, as a way for criminals and corrupt people. Beyond this, we must continue the technological transformation because it is a blessing for countries like ours", stressed Rama.
