"Grateful to the European Commission for disbursing the second and final tranche of 90 million euros of the 180 million euro package of Macro-Financial Assistance to Albania, which aims to promote economic recovery and curb the negative impact on the economy caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In March 2021, Albania received the first payment of 90 million euros, while the EC estimates that our country has met all the criteria agreed with the EU for the disbursement of the full amount committed, including measures to consolidate public finances, guaranteeing the sustainability of financial sector, improving governance, fighting corruption and increasing social support.
The program is another expression of the solidarity of the European Union towards partner and candidate countries, from which benefit 10 countries, including Albania. We are intensively continuing the work with the EC for the timely implementation of the programs and policies agreed within this package," Ahmetaj writes.
