Coronavirus daily infections have already exceeded 500 per day, but family doctor Eriona Hereni has declared Friday that if people are not injected with the COVID-19 vaccine, Albania will definitely experience an increase of cases in autumn.

During an interview, she also spoke about seasonal viruses, saying that they can be confused with the symptoms of the Delta variant and the only way to distinguish it is by undergoing the SARS-CoV-2 test.

“We hope and wish not to return to the previous conditions. I urge you to be careful, follow doctors’ advice and distance yourself. If people are not vaccinated, we will definitely have an increase in cases in the fall. People who have been re-infected after two doses of the vaccine are in very good condition. Some do not even have signs.

We can have 5-6 people a day going through seasonal viruses. They can also be confused with the symptoms of the Delta variant. We suggest making tampons. I have some patients who are being treated at home by the virus. All in good condition. They are young ages", stated the doctor.

Furthermore, the doctor spoke about the vaccination process in Albania, saying that the interest of citizens to receive the coronavirus shots has increased.

"Up to this moment, vaccination is going very well. Compared to previous months, this month has been open to age groups from 18 and up.

We have noticed greater interest of persons. Fortunately, a good number of those called to be vaccinated have come to be vaccinated. There has been an influx, but it would still be nice to have more vaccinated.

We have all kinds of vaccines available. In the beginning there was an advantage for Pfizer for people with special diseases. What is most in demand by citizens is the Pfizer vaccine, but others are also in demand.

Compared to previous months, the number of people seeking vaccination is higher and this is related to the new Delta variant. There are some people who are a little skeptical about the second dose of the vaccine. They are few.

I would very much like the number of vaccinated people to increase. "Normally we pray that the plan is achieved for the vaccination of all citizens by the summer of last year", stressed Hereni.
