DP Chair Vows to Try for Albania’s Accession in Meeting with EU Ministers

Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha has met Sunday with the Foreign Ministers of three European Union member countries such as Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovenia, which takes over the rotating EU presidency on 1 July.

Basha assured the ministers that the DP will do everything in its capacity for the integration process, as the greatest national interest for the country and to improve the life and future of Albanian citizens.

At the center of the discussion of this meeting were also the electoral process of April 25, 2021 and the concerns of the opposition regarding the alledged alienation of the will of the voters.

During the conversation, Basha underlined the role of the EU for our country and the need to coordinate forces to promote the fulfillment of conditions by Albania, especially in the fight against crime and corruption, the separation of politics from crime and the functioning of the rule of law.

Furthermore, he expressed the unwavering will of the DP to continue the battle for change that the country desperately needs.

On their part, the Ministers said that the EU and the member states would follow the post-election developments in Albania with the utmost attention, and that special attention would be paid to the OSCE / ODIHR report, as well as to the decisions of the administrative and judicial bodies.

They placed a special emphasis on the integration process, which means even greater EU attention to Albania.
