DP Thinks Govt Has Failed Managing Universities’ Opening

Albanian government has failed to manage the situation regarding the reopening of universities, has imposed too much cost on students’ families and has provided no assistance, Democratic Party (DP) Spokeswoman Ina Zhupa denounced Friday.

The Democrat noted that students have rented houses or have paid dormitories’ fees to live in Tirana during school period, while their money were not returned despite the fact they were unable to use the dorms due to coronavirus lockdown.

“As during this whole pandemic period, every cost of government’s decision-making falls on the citizens, in this case on the parents of students, who with sacrifices have spent large sums of money to study their children in auditoriums and it is not known whether they will serve them anymore.

Online learning puts Albanian families in front of other costs, making them pay double now! Payment for internet, payment for a laptop or pc device that is a necessary tool to develop an enjoyable participation in online learning. They will also pay full tuition fees at universities.

Meanwhile, the government has no support plan for students and their families. As it has no plan to handling the pandemic”, elaborated Zhupa among others.
