Bus Driver Arrested for Driving Drunk

A 57-years-old driver, resident in Erzen village of Shijak was handcuffed this Saturday, after operating a bus filled with people as he was under the influence of a considerable amount of alcohol.

Road Police blocked the bus after the scared passengers reported the bus driver to have been making dangerous manoeuvres on the Shkozet –Shijak road segment, as announced.

In addition to the arrest, the drunk driver has also been punished with an administrative measure of 90,000 new ALL and a 16-month suspension of his driving license.

Meanwhile, the driver will now face the criminal offense "Irregular driving" (drunk), while the investigative materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office of the Durrës Judicial District for further action.

“Traffic Police Services, after receiving the notification received from the citizens that a bus was carrying out dangerous maneuvers on the Shkozet-Shijak road, immediately made it possible to block the bus.

After performing the alcohol test, it turned out that the driver of the bus, citizen B.V., 57 years old, resident in the village of Erzen, Shijak, was driving the bus in a drunken state at the rate of 1.48 mg per liter”, said the police.
