Elbasan Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigation and sent Tuesday for trial the case against the defendant Leonad Bashaliu, accused of killing Ylber Xhahysa, a year ago in Peqin, Elbasan. 

In an announcement, the Elbasan Prosecution revealed that Bashaliu will face the charges of "Premeditated Murder", "Disturbance of Public Peace" and "Illegal Possession and Production of Weapons, Explosive Weapons and Ammunition". 

The Prosecution at the Elbasan Court of First Instance announces that on 06.06.2022 the investigations have been completed and the criminal case against the defendant Leonard Bashaliu, accused of the premeditated murders of "Premeditated Murder", "Breaking public order" and "Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosives and ammunition" provided by Articles 78/1, 274 and 278/1 of the Criminal Code has been sent to the Elbasan Judicial District Court. 

This criminal case belongs to the event of 08.06.2021 where in the village of Gjocaj of Peqin, the defendant Leonard Bashaliu, killed with a firearm the victim Ylber Xhahysa, dtl.16.03.1977. The defendant Leonard Bashaliu was arrested by the judicial police of DVP Elbasan immediately after the event and was investigated with the security measure "Prison arrest" provided by Article 238 of the Criminal Code. Investigations into this criminal proceeding were conducted in cooperation with DVP Elbasan. The prosecutor of the case is Mr. Petref Asllani". 

When it comes to the crime, Ylber Xhahysa had scratched Leonard Bashali's car, which had not been forgotten by the two residents of the village of Gjocaj in Peqin, who were always arguing about the event. 

On June 8, 2021 was recorded the last quarrel that ended in murder as Ylber Xhahysa was executed in the morning in a village bar. The 44-year-old started a conflict with Leonard Bashali and they threw chairs at each otherfor several minutes. 

Afterwards, Bashali pulled out his gun and shot him 4 times, and although Jahysa was taken by villagers to the hospital, he passed away a few minutes after arriving. 

Witnesses said that after the crime, the perpetrator quietly left for home, where he was arrested by police.
