EU Ambassador, Other Officials Discuss Vjosa River Preservation

Ambassador of the European Union in Albania, Luigi Soreca; Ambassador of Greece, Sophia Philippidou; Mayor of Permet, Alma Hoxha and representatives from environment CSO’s from Albania and Greece have met Tuesday on the banks of Vjosa River in Permet, revealed the European Union in Albania.

On its official account on “Facebook”, the EU in Albania informed that the senior officials talked about how important it is to preserve Vjosa River, as one of the last wild rivers in Europe.

“On the banks of Vjosa River in Përmet Albania, EU Ambassador Luigi Soreca, Ambassador of Greece Sophia Philippidou, Mayor of Permet Alma Hoxha and representatives from environment CSO’s from Albania and Greece discussed on the importance of preserving Vjosa River, one of the last wild rivers in Europe”, announced the European Union in Albania.

For the protection of Vjosa River from the threat of hydropower plants (HPPs) has called also Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

In his tweet on March 12, Di Caprio drew attention to the plight of the Vjosa River, one of the last wild rivers in Europe which is currently under threat.
