EU Integration on Focus as Xhacka Receives Austrian Counterpart

Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka held a meeting this Thursday with her Austrian counterpart, Minister for the European Union and the Constitution, Karoline Edstadler.

Minister Edstadler stressed that Austria is trying to help Albania getting a green passport, in order to enable free movement for Albanians, adding that Austrians have strong political roots with Albania.

"Congratulations on the April 25 election. We want to work with you on the important prospect of joining the EU. We have strong political roots with Albania. We are trying for the green passport, to enable free movement. You are doing a lot to show the EU that you are doing well in integration. There are 145.000 Covid vaccines for Albania," declared Minister Edstadler.

On the other hand, Minister Xhacka appreciated the support of Austria given to Albania after the earthquake or during the pandemic.

"Austria has provided assistance to Albania to cope with the earthquake and pandemic Covid-19. Austria is vocal and aware of how interdependent we are from the threat and therefore shared the dose with Covid, under the name of the EU. To alleviate the obstacles for our region. Austria understands well how important the EU's strategic approach to our country is to appreciate our achievements", noted Xhacka.
