Expertise/ What Caused Warehouse Fire Where Sala Died

Preliminary expertise has come out Sunday on what caused the fire in the warehouse where the 32-year-old security guard Arjan Sala passed away as he rushed to help extinguish the flames and save lives.

The fire in the warehouse with plastic goods and clothing, is suspected to have started after an electric spark in the neon cable, as the local media report. The electric sparks fell on the synthetic clothes, creating numerous flames that the fire brigade needed over 2 days to put out the fire, as the temperature in the warehouse reached over 900 degrees.

Afterwards, the fire broke out around 15:00 while workers were waiting for the truck with goods. The first to try to put out the fire were the security officers, among them Arjan Salaj, who unfortunately was found dead yesterday in the burned warehouse. Security personnel extinguished the flames but not the hearth and as a result, the fire was reactivated.

At 15:30, the flames activated the alarm, while 2 employees and the owner's son came in to extinguish them. Arjan Salaj went deep into the warehouse to put out the flames, the sources confirm. He tried to leave the emergency door but fell due to darkness and smoke.

However, took the fire extinguisher and went in to put out the flames, followed by an employee and the owner's son. The flames spread rapidly due to easily combustible materials, which could no longer be controlled with the fire extinguisher alone.

For this reason, the employee and the owner's son came out of the main door they entered, while Arjan Salaj tried to get out of the emergency door that was previously dependent on the fire but has collapsed and could not come out. The lifeless body of the 33-year-old was found very close to the emergency door.
