Fatos Tushe Gives Up Appeal against Dismissal

The former mayor of Lushnja, Fatos Tushe, gave up this Tuesday from his appeal made against the Council of Ministers' decision for his dismissal after being arrested for abuse of office.

The hearing was to be held today but failed due to withdrawal. Tushe was fired from the post of mayor of Lushnje by a government decision after being arrested. Tushe was arrested on July 6 along with his former subordinates on charges of abuse of office and will remain in prison after the Special Anti-Corruption Court rejected his request for release for the fourth time.

The arrest of Tusha was made in connection with a tender worth about ALL 23 million for the rehabilitation of an irrigation canal in the villages of Bishqethëm and Bitaj. SPAK claims that the former mayor of Lushnja has committed violations for giving in favor of friends the tender of ALL 23 million.

According to SPAK, although the winner was announced ‘Euro Alb’, the works for the rehabilitation of the irrigation canal were carried out by the company of Ibrahim Lami, who often appeared in conversations and wiretaps, and is labeled as a ‘friend’ of the former mayor.

Another episode against the former mayor is related to a phone call in which a resident asks him for help because an inspector had suspended the construction of the apartment, and he responds "Tell him I talked to the boss."
