Finland Supports Opening of Albania's Accession EU Talks

Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin has expressed her country's support for the opening of negotiations for Albania's membership in the European Union.

In a press conference during her visit to Albania, Marin said that the Western Balkans's EU membership is important, at a time when Europe is facing the threat of Russian aggression.

"We have to do more together. Both Albania and Finland are constructive. They have a good relationship, dating back to the 46'. We are working to advance the EU. We are together to help Ukraine. Russia's aggression in Ukraine has changed the security environment. A majority of Finns support NATO membership. Albania is a firm supporter of NATO policies. Your voice sends a powerful message to Russia. Finland and Sweden will make NATO stronger. We are security provider for further on.

We must intensify support for Ukraine. Albania and the EU have cooperated. Finland is a strong supporter of the Western Balkans's EU membership. We must support Albania-in-EU membership. The EU and the Western Balkans must be in full harmony. We want to see all the Western Balkan countries in the EU. We appreciate your role when it comes to representation in international forums", said Marin.
