Four Candidates Running for RTSH’s Leadership

Names of four persons have been approved by the Steering Council of the Albanian Radio and Television, but only one of them will be in charge of the only public television in Albania.

It is learned that the selected names are Enkelejd Joti, Iris Luarasi, Moza Haxhiaj and Laureta Roshi, who have met the necessary criteria to be part of the competition.

Enkelejd Joti is already in charge of QSUT, and a return to the media scene is possible, as long as Joti has previously run Top Channel. His name is also preferred by Prime Minister Edi Rama, while RTSH is constantly accused of being dependent on the ruling party.

Iris Luarasi, comes from the world of civil society, lecturer at the University of Tirana, in the department of journalism and communication.

It seems that Luarasi has the ambition to lead the public media in the country, although he has no experience in similar fields. She has been mainly focused on women's rights issues, and has run several NGOs.

Moza Haxhaj has held the position of editor-in-chief at RTSH for several years, and has expressed the ambition to be not only in the direction of news, but at a managerial level.

The fourth name that has joined the competition is that of the journalist Laureta Roshi, who recently reports from Fieri for RTSH, and is engaged in some tangible social issues.

The race on RTSH started after the arrest of the former director Thoma Gëllçi, on charges of corruption, while the post of director is temporarily held by Martin Leka, not voted by the Assembly. The director of ART is elected after the vote in the Assembly.
