Albanian Customs has appealed Tuesday on all citizens and businesses that want to travel to Greece, to avoid going towards the Kakavija border crossing point (BCP) as the employees of the Greek side will hold a strike.

Closure of Kakavija border will continue from 07:00 until 07:00, on February 18, based on the Greek local time. The Local Directorate of Border and Migration Gjirokastra announced earlier today that passengers cannot travel through Kakavija BCP from February 17 to 18.

Meanwhile, vehicles such as motorcycles, cars, vans transporting citizens and trucks transporting goods will not be allowed to pass during the above timeframe, the Albanian Customs says.

Exception from this restriction will be only for pedestrians, trucks transporting refrigerated foodstuffs, trucks transporting live animals, medicines, and emergency vehicles.

“Kakavija Customs Branch will be closed in the 24 hour period, starting from tomorrow, February 17, local Greek time 07:00 until 07:00 on 18 February.

This is announced by the Greek Police Authorities, who based on an official notification sent to the Kakavija Border Police, explain that due to the strike that will take place by the Greek customs employees, there will be a work stoppage, starting from tomorrow, February 17, local Greek time 07:00 until 07:00 on 18 February”, declared the Customs.
