Head of Tirana Prosecution Discharged; Reasons

The Special College of Appeal dismissed Wednesday the head of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, Elisabeta Imeraj.

The public commissioner had previously demanded her dismissal, also on the recommendation of observers of the international monitoring operation.

According to the commissioner, prosecutor Imeraj has problems in all 3 components of evaluation, wealth, purity of image and professionalism.

Shortly before the verdict was announced, Imeraj said she believed in justice. With her dismissal, a vacancy is created in the largest prosecutor's office in the country, that of Tirana.

On March 26, the High Prosecution Council unanimously decided to appoint prosecutor Elisabeta Imeraj to the position of Head of the Prosecution at the Tirana Court of First Instance for a 3-year term.
