Heavy Rains and Snowfall, Defence Ministry Provides Information
The Ministry of Defence provides data on the situation in the country created by rainfall and snow. According to the Ministry, the intensity of rainfall has increased significantly in the last 24 hours.
The situation created due to the outflow of the Vjosa River into the Mifol bridge is worrying. This has caused floods in the village of Novosela and in the village of Ferras. From the first hours in the area are engaged over 75 members of the Armed Forces and funds, which are coming to the aid of civil emergency structures in Vlora and Fier.
Field work continues to clear some roads in the municipalities of Gjirokastra, Dropull and Këlcyrë. Employees of the Road Authority are continuing the work for two days to guarantee free movement.
The situation created as a result of the Shushica River inflows, which depleted the bridge of the village of Mesaplik in the municipality of Selenica, but also in the village of Kallarat in the municipality of Himara, is being followed with priority.
The outflow of the Osum River in the village of Verrik in Berat has also caused problems, so in the municipality of Dimal and Kuçova some families have been evacuated. The Ministry of Defence calls on residents in areas where there are problems to cooperate with the authorities for evacuation if necessary.
As a result of heavy snowfall, the situation on the road Boge Qafë Thora and Peshkopi-Lure is being followed by the structures. All local government structures are on the ground to guarantee the continuation of the normal supply of water and energy to citizens throughout the country. The Armed Forces under the coordination of the Civil Defence Agency are on standby for any need.
