Integration Process, Majority Asks People's Help
At the meeting of the National Integration Council, the head of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla said that the European integration of the country requires comprehensive cooperation. According to him, Albania is at an important moment as it is expected to be decided when the first intergovernmental conference will be held, which officially marks the start of the process for membership in the European Union.
"This meeting takes place at an important moment for our European path. We are on the verge of making a decision to hold the first intergovernmental conference. It is up to this council to convey an encouraging message about this vital process.
Today we will get acquainted with one of the chapters, that 23, which together with the 24 have special importance. Given the role and leadership of the National Integration Council, we aim to increase transparency and accountability as much as possible.
The Parliament should take on its role, that of the controller of other institutions. The Parliament has served as a bridge between the institutions involved in European integration.
Nevertheless, as can be understood from a superficial analysis of the action plan, the priorities and responsible institutions go beyond the will of the government or the monitoring capabilities of the Parliament.
European integration is a complex journey that requires the coordination of many actors - the government, the Parliament, the judiciary, political parties, civil society, and even the simplest citizen.
We can not claim and let me point out that it is a totally wrong approach if we would think that the will of the government or just the majority would be enough. In this journey, we must be together to enable the fastest and safest advancement in the process of integration of the country," Balla emphasized.
