Interior Minister Discusses Information Exchange with Europol’s Director

Interior Minister, Bledi Çuçi has held Tuesday an online meeting with the Executive Director of Europol, Catherine de Bolle, during which it was discussed about the extension of cooperation in the exchange of information with Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) or National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to prevent and crack down on illegal activities.

Through the social networks, the Albanian Minister revealed he has told de Bolle that Albania's ambition is to have a role in joint investigative teams and operations with EUROPOL just like other EU member states.

“Today I had the pleasure to hold a meeting with the Executive Director of EUROPOL, Mrs. Catherine De Bolle. We discussed the stage of cooperation so far, where Albania is an actor directly involved in joint operations against trafficking and other criminal activities.

Another important issue during the discussion I had with her was the extension of cooperation in the exchange of information with the new justice institutions established in our country such as the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime and the National Bureau of Investigation.

Increasing the quantity and quality of information exchanged, as well as this new dimension of cooperation that we want to establish with SPAK and NBI will help prevent and crack down on illegal activities.

Albania has an active role in EUROPOL and continues to be a leading state in action operations, but we naturally have the ambition to take an increased role in joint investigation teams and operations just as if we were a member state of the European Union”, noted Minister Çuçi.
