Kosovo Abolishes Temporary Residence Permit with Albania

Government of Kosovo has approved Tuesday in principle the International Agreement with the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania on the abolition of temporary residence permits.

At the government meeting, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Blerim Gashani said this draft agreement is in the spirit of common interests in the framework of bilateral cooperation and aims to revoke the temporary residence permits of both signatories.

Abolition of the temporary permit with Albania means the removal of the criteria provided in the relevant law for foreigners to be provided with a temporary residence permit, clarified Gashani.

"Abolition of the temporary permit, according to this agreement, means the removal of the criteria provided in the relevant law for foreigners for equipment with a temporary residence permit. Temporary residence permit, according to this agreement, means obtaining a temporary residence permit for foreigners with a 5-year term.

Through this agreement, the signatory parties, at the moment of notification of temporary residence in the territory of the other party must complete the notification form, where in this case, the relevant Ministry of Internal Affairs, is obliged to equip with a residence permit within 30 days the citizen of the other party who has issued the residence permit.

In this way, the citizens of the signatory parties, at the moment of notification of temporary residence, can stay in the territory of the other state for up to 5 years for any of the following reasons: for family reunification, pre-university education and higher education, scientific research, victims of human trafficking", said the Deputy Minister of the Internal Affairs of Kosovo.
