Kosovo Finally Invited at Biden's Summit of Democracy

Although it was said that Kosovo was not invited, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, on Monday confirmed the invitation to participate in the Summit for Democracy, organized for the first time by the American President, Joe Biden.

This Summit will take place virtually on December 9-10, and will be attended by leaders from many countries around the world, members of civil society and the private sector.

Through a post on the social network, Facebook, Osmani said that she understood last week that Kosovo will be part of this Summit, after several meetings she held in Washington.

Osmani's reaction

I thank President Biden for the invitation to the White House Democracy Summit and for his appreciation for the partnership offered by Kosovo to work towards strengthening a democratic, human rights-based society that enables every citizen to fulfill their potential.

After the productive meetings last week in Washington, in which I was informed that Kosovo will be part of this Summit, I am honored to accept the invitation from President Biden.

The Republic of Kosovo is a shining example of continuous efforts for freedom and democracy. As such it is a model for our region and beyond. Kosovo will share its unique experience in building democratic institutions and practices, in extraordinary partnership with our international friends - with the United States playing a leading role.

I am happy that on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo I will present the achievements and challenges we have, and we will work together to implement an ambitious plan for the next 12 months to further strengthen our new democracy. so that our citizens can feel the benefits of a democratic leadership based on the rule of law, human rights and social inclusion.
