Many Omicron-Infected Result Negative When Tested

Director of the National Emergency, Skënder Brataj, spoke on Wednesday regarding the circulation of Omicron in Albania, saying that there is a reason why many people who may be affected by this variant test negative after the tests performed, as these were created to detect the first forms of the virus.

Brataj said that any person who has symptoms should be isolated as he added that as many other viruses are in the field, it means that this variant is disappearing

"There has always been talk of different forms and different tests. But from one variant to another the sensitivity to the buffer changes as it was created for the first forms of the virus. The fact that it turns out negative should not be ruled out.

If you have flu symptoms you should not go to work because the flu is also contagious. We should always think we have Omicron. Diagnoses are in the ICD10 classification. The report is related to the family doctor and specialist. Up to 14 days is the right of the family doctor.

Then the specialist advises you. Last year it was the Delta variant that had a higher virulence that left no other virus. The Omicron has the light form but the characteristics are different.

The more other viruses take ground it means Omicron is disappearing. A person who has not been vaccinated and will not be vaccinated continues to stick to his idea. Most or light forms say it will pass", said Brataj.

Moreover, the Director of Emergency said that during these times the number of visits to the apartment has increased but compared to last year there is a decrease in hospitalization.

"When complications arrive then help is sought. We have increased the number of visits to the apartment. Out of 90 visits, 37 ended up in hospital. The number of beds leaves us more relaxed but we have not caught the peak of Omicron. The fact of the matter is that it catches everyone. Like the one who is vaccinated like the one who is unvaccinated.

He who has passed and been vaccinated, the greatest possibility is that he will not lose his life and will not be hospitalized. We are in the ascending phase of this wave that I think the beginning of February will be the peak of this pandemic. There will be a decline then. As it is happening in some areas that have passed the peak", he declared.

Meanwhile, Brataj underlined that on the eve of the change of years there has been a significant increase in the number of vaccinated.

"Fortunately, at the end of the year, there was an increase in the number of vaccinated people. With two doses it is 49% or 38 for the whole population. These are not small numbers compared to other countries", he said.
