Minister Announces Dissolution of Academy of Albanological Studies
The government has approved the decision to dissolve the Academy of Albanological Studies. The Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, has listed the reasons for taking this decision, emphasizing that this Academy has been acting in violation of the law for years.
"There has not been a faculty that is the first legal obligation. There is no teaching in any institute, making it impossible to continue functioning as an institution of higher education. It has never been accredited, while other institutions are being accredited for the 2nd and 3rd time.
Non-accreditation makes it impossible not only to be a higher education institution but also to issue diplomas. A few years ago, it issued diplomas, a serious legal violation.
For 8 years no student has registered, this makes all programs inactive. If there are no registrations for 2 years, it must be registered to close the program and they have not done so. They make the existence of this Academy impossible.
They don't even justify the salary, they didn't even apply for registers, they didn't set up an internal audit. We have a decision where the violations and irregularities are large and numerous.
But we will reorganize this Academy by placing its institutes as autonomous units under the Academy of Sciences, all rights are transferred to the Academy of Sciences. For doctoral students who are in the process and should have finished long ago, we will transfer them to other institutions.
They will have our maximum support, this decision legalizes Albanian Albanology but also raises it to a higher level. Read the report, the law because the reasons for this reorganization are clear.
Today, those who shout are responsible for allowing the institution to be illegal through their actions or inactions. I am proud that we are taking the right step. I have a long list of researchers who support this decision and are optimistic that it will have positive results," Kushi said.
