Monday Announced National Day of Mourning
The government has announced national day mourning this Monday (March 29), following the death of former Socialist MP, Bashkim Fino.
It was Prime Minister Edi Rama himself, where through a post on ‘Facebook’ he published the decision, accompanied by an emoji, a black heart. Fino lost his life today at the age of 58, after fighting the coronavirus for days, and unfortunately, he could win the battle with the dangerous virus.
Earlier, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that today all activities within the electoral campaign for the April 25 elections would be canceled. Fino was part of the lists of candidates for MPs in the district of Fier, where he was ranked fourth.
At the Socialist Party headquarters and state institutions, flags have been flown to half-staff, while homage in honor of MP Bashkim Fino will be held at the Palace of Congresses.
His political career in the Socialist Party is early. From 1997 onwards he is a member of the Steering Committee of the Socialist Party. The peak of his career would be marked in 1997 when he would be elected Prime Minister of the country in the government of National Reconciliation, a position he would hold from March to July.
Mr. Fino has held several ministerial posts. From 1997 to 1998 he served as Minister of Local Government, at the same time Deputy Prime Minister.
