Most Urban Centers Will Have 24 Hours of Drinking Water Within 2021

Prime Minister Edi Rama stated this Monday that within this year Albania will have a supply of 24 hours of drinking water in a large number of urban centers.

The statement of the head of government was made by Kamza, where he inspected the Water Supply and Sewerage building, an initiative of the Albanian and German governments.

"It is a good start of the week here in Kamza, where as you can see we have gathered with a group that represents all the partners we have in Europe, the EU, the government of Germany and Switzerland in function of a major and vital program for Albania that is drinking water supply throughout the territory, ending a story long not only 3 decades, but hundreds of years. Never in the history of this country has drinking water been provided 100 percent.

Today we have 100 construction sites in the territory, where we work for new systems, integrated systems. It should be borne in mind that these investments are investments in untouched systems since the 60s. It is understandable for someone to say, we are still dealing with water in 2021, but in fact we are dealing because this is a job that never started before from the beginning to the end.

In the transition period, many funds dedicated to drinking water were cut into segments of electoral interests, not investing in a vision, integrated project. We have lost many of these funds due to the fact that we have left the entire fragmented and depreciated supply system much faster than anything normally happened. Within this year, we will have 24 hours of drinking water in a large number of urban centers in Albania", said Rama in his speech.
