Names of Five Officials Accused of Espionage Revealed

The Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) has investigated 4 former officials of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH) and one of the State Police, suspected of corruption and leaking investigative secrets. 

Sources inform that SPAK has started the investigation for Frederik Ymeri, Gjergji Koti, Bashkim Abazi, Luftar Cunaj and Maksim Ferrani. It is learned that the investigation against these persons has started since January 2021, separately SHISH has given the alarm that unfriendly countries have tried to obtain confidential data from Albanian officials. 

There are suspicions that these persons in return for payment have been contacted by foreign services to sell confidential information. After the alarm given by SHISH, it is learned that SPAK has kept under strong supervision, 5 people, such as Frederik Ymeri, Gjergji Kotin, Bashkim Abazi, Luftar Çunaj, and Maksim Ferra. 

It is learned that the investigation is being pursued by the prosecutor Altin Dumani, for the charges for the criminal offenses of "Providing secret information", "Receiving Rewards", "Serving foreign countries" and "Structured criminal group". 

But who are the 5 people suspected of being "traitors"? 

Frederik Ymeri was the Director of Organized Crime in the Central Apparatus of the State Intelligence Service, in 2003. It is learned that this was also his duty in this high institution of the Albanian state. 

Maksim Ferra, meanwhile, is said to have been part of the surveillance sector at the Central Apparatus of the State Intelligence Service in 2000. Today this person is running an NGO. 

For Gjergji Koti, according to SPAK and SHISH, he is suspected of espionage, he is a former police officer who served in the Internal Affairs and Complaints Service of the Tirana Police. 

Sources inform that the above mentioned persons Maksim Ferra, Gjergji Koti, Bashkim Abazi and Luftar Çunaj, are the information network of Frederik Ymeri. 

Recall that one of the former officials accused of collaborating with foreigners, appeared in the annual report of SHISH for 2021, which showed how he had given classified information to an agent of a friendly country while the Albanian official was seduced by a scholarship for his son.
