From January 17, 2022, citizens will have in their hands new banknotes with denominations of 500 and 2000 ALL. 

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, informed at the press conference that the new banknotes have been designed and produced with the latest technology in the field and are equipped with modern and sophisticated security elements. 

"We have continued the work for completing the new series of banknotes. In June 2021, 2 more denominations were put into circulation, those 1,000 and 10,000 ALL. The addition of the latter, ie the banknote with the largest denomination in the value of 10,000 ALL, is also a novelty in the process of producing our money. 

At the same time, it is worth mentioning that in 2021, we have produced the last 2 banknotes of the series, those with 500 and 2000 ALL denominations, which are expected to be put into circulation in the following days, finally realizing the completion of our new series of banknotes, consisting of 6 denominations. 

Starting January 17, 2022, the new banknotes will be in the hands of the public and will circulate in parallel with the current series banknotes.
