Polish Foreign Minister: Western Balkans EU Accession Frustrating
Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau has said he shared the “frustration†of the Western Balkans’ delegations after the V4 + Western Balkans summit in Rogalin, Poland.
Rau highlighted the “incredible length†of the EU accession process, which he said “leads to a situation where we fear that the third countries, who don’t care about Western Balkans’ accession, can continue their agenda.â€
“This agenda has not much in common with the social harmony, political stabilisation, which these countries expect from accessing the EU,†he added as quoted by EurActiv on Tuesday.
At the V4+ Western Balkans summit, diplomats from the Visegrad countries expressed their support for the EU accession of Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo.
“Visegrad Group countries maintain their commitment and support for the partners from the Western Balkan regions on their road to reforms connected to the European integration processâ€, they said in an official statement.
