President Meets Commissioner Johansson, European Path on Focus

President of the Republic Ilir Meta met Saturday with the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs, Ylva Johansson, with whom he discussed the urgent challenges of Albania's European path.

The April 25 elections have been another topic of the meeting. Meta declares that after them, organized crime will receive a decisive blow and Albania will return to the rails of the rule of law and full respect for human rights.

"It is a pleasure to meet today with the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs, Mrs. Ylva Johansson. An open and fruitful conversation on the urgent challenges of Albania's European path.

I thanked her for the comprehensive support that the EU gives to our country, including the prevention and management of illegal immigration through cooperation with FRONTEX.

I stressed the importance of holding free and fair elections for Albania's European path. After the elections of April 25, 2021, organized crime will receive a decisive blow and Albania will return to the tracks of the rule of law and full respect for human rights", writes the Head of State.
