“With great pain and sadness, I received the news of the death of the anti-fascist, patriot, military and veteran, Colonel Rustem Peçi.
Educated with love for the Homeland, from a very young age he became active for the Liberation of Albania, to serve with dedication the country after the War, in all the high state duties he was charged with and to continue, as Chairman of the National Committee of the Veterans Organization of LANÇ, with his excellent contribution to educating the younger generations with feelings of patriotism, as well as keeping alive anti-fascist values.
I have had the good fortune to know intimately his tireless work and commitment in defending the ideal of freedom and national dignity. I cannot but express the great sorrow of his separation from life on the eve of the commemoration of April 7, this sad day for our history, but also honourable for launching the heroic resistance of the patriotic military.
Sharing the pain with the Peçi family, friends and all members of the National Organization of Veterans of LANÇ, I express my deepest condolences.
Our anti-fascist patriot and educator Rustem Peçi will be remembered forever with honour, respect and gratitude!†writes the President of the Republic.
