President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani has congratulated Thursday her country’s Independence, saying that today all those who sacrificed should be thanked.

In her media release on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of Kosovo, she thanked the international partners for their help and Osmani quoted a statement from the former President of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova.

“I wish the citizens for the 14th anniversary of our state. Even on this day, I want to use to thank and honor those who have given everything to make our country happy, starting with the visionary and architect of Kosovo Independence, President Ibrahim Rugova, who knew how to clarify the will of the citizens of Kosovo before the world and create friendships that we still enjoy today. And continuing with over 3 thousand martyrs who sacrificed their lives for us to live free, led by Commander Adem Jashari and the Jashari family. Our state is a done deal. Challenges continue, in these challenges we must stand united. Only when we are united can we succeed.

I am convinced that so far we have made our friends proud who have helped us during the period of freedom, independence but also in the process of state building and are still present today. So I want to thank them for never leaving us alone. "As our historic President has said, 'the house is not kept without friends and Kosovo is the greatest proof of this'", declared Osmani.
