Ruçi’s Message on Kosovo Constitution Day

The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Gramoz Ruçi, conveyed a message this Friday on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Kosovo, which was ratified 13 years ago.

Ruçi says that the Constitution solves two basic tasks of Kosovo, independence and laying the foundations of the new state.

He assures that the Albanian Parliament will always promote fraternal cooperation with Kosovo.

“13 years ago, on April 9, 2008, the Assembly of Kosovo ratified the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, which entered into force on June 15, 2008.

The Constitution, as the highest legal act, solved two basic tasks: sanctioning independence and laying the foundations for building the new state of the Republic of Kosovo.

Independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and a unique constitutional order are the fundamental unchangeable values of the Constitution of Kosovo.

The constitution also sanctioned the fundamental rights and freedoms of all citizens of the country, including equal rights for minority groups, primarily the Serb minority.

The Republic has already completed its institutional framework and elected all of its constitutional institutions. The task of these institutions is that, in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo, with its liberal-democratic spirit, principles and content, to face and solve the major challenges and objectives of development, progress, welfare, Euro-Atlantic integration, increase international recognition and contributing to peace, stability and security in the region.

These challenges can be solved through support and strategic partnership with the largest, strongest and sincerest allies of the Albanians, the United States of America and the European Union, as well as through dialogue and cooperation with countries in the region and beyond. The Parliament of Albania has been and will always be a promoter and supporter of the fraternal cooperation between Albania and Kosovo," writes in his message Ruçi.
