Albania's rapporteur for the EP, Isabel Santos, invites the European Union to open the negotiations for Albania’s membership.

The European Parliament convened this Tuesday to discuss the opening of negotiations for Albania and Northern Macedonia in the EU.

Santos, through a post on social media, says that this is an important moment for Albania. She further emphasizes that the path for Albania's membership in the European family must pass through the progress made so far.

"An important moment for Albania. The road of EU accession must reflect the progress made by the country. General Affairs Council should plan the first Intergovernmental Conference.

The goodwill of the Albanian people towards the European Union also deserves this development," writes Santos.
