Southeast of Albania Covered by Snow, Power Outages in Several Areas

The southeast of the country has been covered by snow the last two days, which has caused problems in some areas regarding the movement of the vehicles and electricity.

As a result of snowfall in the segment of Dardha, the thickness of the snow has gone up to 70 cm where despite the work and maintenance of the road, small vehicles that move during the morning must be equipped with chains while Voskopoja and Qafa e Qarrit have no problems with the passage of vehicles as the snow varies from 5 to 15 cm.

Problems with electricity continue to exist in the territory of the Municipality of Maliq as snowfall has been accompanied by strong winds. There is a lack of electricity in Gora, Moglica, Kolanec, Zboqeri while it is learned that working groups are on the ground to restore energy.

Meanwhile Pogradec has passed the last 48 hours without electricity in the two administrative units, Dardhas and Trebinje, as well as 6 villages in the unit Proptisht.

There have also been landslides in the village of Zall Torrë and measures are being taken to open the road and make it passable.

The national axes are currently open and there are no problems, with the exception of some rural secondary roads which can only be circulated with chains. It is advised for all drivers to be careful and respect the rules of the road.
