Tabaku Shares Details from Meeting with US Ambassador

The MP of the Democratic Party, also Co-chair of the Special Parliamentary Committee on Integration, Jorida Tabaku, spoke after the meeting with the US ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim.

In a post on social media, Tabaku says that part of the discussions with the American diplomat was the process of Albania's integration into the EU, and the fulfilment of the conditions starting from the fight against corruption and organized crime and free elections.

The democratic MP announces that she has also expressed the opposition's concerns about some initiatives such as fiscal amnesty, golden passports and the legalization of cannabis.

"Today I discussed with the American ambassador in Albania the priorities of the EU integration process, the importance of involving justice. There is no other way than fulfilling the conditions to bring about change: Fighting corruption, organized crime; free and fair elections should be the watchword of politics.

Also, special focus with US Ambassador received the concerns of the opposition & independent experts on recent government initiatives such as: Fiscal Amnesty, Golden Passports, Cannabis Legalization, which are not projects under the spirit of integration, so they must be stopped!

Engaged to supervise & control the work of the government in this process; the mentality of the public administration must be changed! I call on the government to use the integration process as a way to attract thousands of talented young people who have left Albania," Tabaku wrote.
