Tiranë, Two Tennis Courts Inaugurated at Lake Park

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, inaugurated this Tuesday the two tennis courts at the Lake Park.

It is learned that the Tennis Park will bear the name of Perlat Voshtina. Veliaj said that the two new courts give a message that the strongest in the city is not the one who occupies, but the one who represents the majority.

"We have always been here for 30 years, and we did not know what was behind these thorns. We saw two tennis courts, and there were 3 thousand and a few meters of occupied space. It was taken for granted that one could occupy the lake, and today we are in a situation where 99% of the Lake has been cleared. We have a little bit of space left, we are in court with the last two illegal constructions on the other side ", underlined Veliaj.

The Mayor recalled how many investments of the Municipality of Tirana have been opposed, which these days have become destinations for citizens of all age groups.

"While someone plays tennis, parents or grandparents will have the opportunity to sunbath, and therefore we put some sunbeds. We want this to be a space for families, not just for those who play, but the whole family. Everyone from 1 to 100 years old, to have something to do at the Lake Park, to be a family experience, where we all leave happily from a city that has become more liveable", Veliaj affirmed.

While at the end the mayor Veliaj reminded that next year Tirana will be the "European Capital of Youth" where about 1 thousand activities will take place and proposed to have an organization in the sport of tennis.

“There are tennis courts near the river, as well as on the Lake, but also on the "Ismail Qemali" school, the "Dora D'Istria" school, and the "Pero Nini" school. We want not only to continue with public spaces, but also in all schools and make tennis courts. Just as we have done with basketball, volleyball, football, where many of the gyms and courts, we have given to various associations, we want to continue the same, even with tennis", concluded Veliaj.
