A 25-year-old and a 34-year-old Albanian citizens residing in Albania were arrested in Chiasso, the Public ministry, the cantonal police, the border guards and the municipal police of Chiasso and Mendrisio announced.  

According to the foreign media, the two were in a car with Albanian plates entering Switzerland and were stopped at the Brogeda motorway crossing. 

A thorough search of the vehicle by the Visits Specialists Group led to the subsequent discovery of about 11 kilograms of heroin.  

The drug had been hidden inside a receptacle in the dashboard. After being interrogated by cantonal police officers, the 25-year-old and 34-year-old were arrested.  

Meanwhile, the offense against them is an aggravated infringement of the Federal Law on Narcotic Drugs, in the investigation coordinated by the public prosecutor Valentina Tuoni.
