Two-Day Balkans Tour, German Chancellor Arrives in Pristina

Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Pristina this Friday and was received at the "Adem Jashari" airport by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, accompanied by German Ambassador Jorn Rhode.

According to Kosovar media, the plane with which the head of the German government traveled landed in Pristina at around 9:45.

However, Scholz will meet with Prime Minister Albin Kurti at 10:45 in the Kosovo government building.

German Chancellor's destinations are the capitals Prishtina (Kosovo), Belgrade (Serbia), Skopje (Northern Macedonia) and Sofia (Bulgaria) as well as the metropolis of northern Greece, Thessaloniki.

Meanwhile, the focus of his talks there will be the rapprochement of the Western Balkan countries with the EU, German Deputy Government Spokeswoman Christiane Hoffmann said in Berlin on Wednesday (08.06.2022).

From the Federal Government's point of view, the EU perspective is important not only for security in the region, but for the EU as a whole. But the EU enlargement process has so far failed, not only because of internal inconsistencies in the EU, but also because of unresolved issues in the region itself.
